Help!

Would you like to work with Surrey’s leading charity that cares for stroke recoverers who have communication difficulties?

TALK helps stroke recoverers who have dysphasia – which is a difficulty in understanding and expressing language, both written and spoken. We have six groups throughout the county meeting weekly with volunteers working on a one-to-one basis with over 100 recoverers.

If you would like to volunteer please contact Michael Hawtin, on 01932 342018 or

Helping people to communicate after stroke
Since 1998 TALK has been helping stroke recoverers with dysphasia to regain lost skills. Weekly meetings enable members to practise their communication skills in a supportive and sociable environment.

TALK works closely with local speech and language therapists who help to train our volunteers. Each recoverer is helped by a volunteer on a one-to-one basis.

TALK received the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service for 2005, in recognition of the outstanding contribution made by our volunteers
