Talk's listening line
What is it?

A group of TALK Friends has set up a telephone support line. The aim is to offer a confidential listening ear to TALK members - recoverers, volunteers, family and friends. Although in our workshop groups we act informally as a friendly ear, there are, however, some people who would value an extra supportive listening service when they are facing a time of sudden or ongoing difficulty.

How does it work?

A number of friends have agreed to form a contact list of telephone numbers to hold the subject compassionately in their thoughts, before passing it on to the next in line.

Requests for support are passed via the line leader, who passes the message down the line until the last in line feeds back to the leader.

All matters are treated confidentially.

Who is on the list ?

There are currently six friends on the list, led by Chris Ridsdale-Smith. The last on the list will be Daphne Bell, who set up the Listening Line with Chris. The Rev. Judy Potter, a past Chairman of TALK has kindly agreed to act as Spiritual Adviser.

How does one join?

New names can be added to the list at any time. Just phone, email, or write to Chris whose details are below. You will be asked to allow your address, telephone number/email details to be listed confidentially. Support line members agree to maintain confidentiality about any personal details learnt.
