Hobbies day at Knaphill

For a session at Knaphill on 26th November, led by Chris Ridsdale-Smith, recoverers and volunteers were asked to bring examples of their hobbies.
photo of angela with ehr craftwork Since Angela’s stroke in 1991 she has struggled with speech, but always has her pen and notebook handy as a standby. She uses a wide range of art media including needlework, drawing, painting (in oil, acrylic and watercolour), pottery, jewellery and photography. She is depicted with a display of her work, which is always done with great precision and care. This type of session is guaranteed to reveal a wealth of talents and interests

The exhibits included carvings in Sapele wood of a cat and an owl and a selection of drawings by Peter Gaunt. One of the drawings was a self-portrait. Despite the portrait being a mirror image, drawn 10 years ago and pre-beard, Peter is clearly recognisable, as is apparent in the photo.

Peter’s strokes in 2003 and 2004 have left him confined to a wheelchair, with loss of use of left arm and leg. However he maintains a keen interest in art and can still wield pencil or brush with considerable skill.
