After many years with TALK as a volunteer at the Guildford morning group Rev. Judy Potter bade us farewell recently.

Judy, who became an ordained minister during her time with TALK, is having to devote more time to her church work. However, we confidently expect to see her on future occasions.

She is seen here at her last group meeting with leader Peter Walker.

talk about weddings

Volunteers at the Tuesday morning group display the wedding dresses brought by Marion May (third from left), who gave a talk as part of the morning's theme “Weddings”.

Maureen Pink, who celebrated her 42nd wedding anniversary that day, dressed in the wedding outfit she had worn to her son's wedding earlier in the year. She also brought her own wedding veil which she put on to complete our photo of “Weddings through the decades”

Who's who ?

photo of peter walker Peter Walker joined TALK shortly after retiring in 1999, initially as a volunteer at the Guildford morning group. He later became secretary and, in May 2006 became chairman.

Peter hails from the north-east, where he worked as a journalist before moving south following his marriage to Iris in the 1960s. Shortly after that move he joined the staff of the Official Report at the House of Commons, where he remained, in various posts, until retirement.

He has two grown-up daughters, two grand-daughters and three motorcycles of varying vintage.

Peter is also group leader for the Tuesday morning meetings at St. Catherine’s village hall, where his musical and artistic talents are consistently underrated.
